Frequently asked questions
The single source of truth for common questions. The in app support helper and the landing page both draw from this page, so an answer here is the answer everywhere.
Getting started
Is RollCall built specifically for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Yes. RollCall is BJJ first: gi and no gi attendance, belt and stripe progression, promotion eligibility, and team messaging, priced for the Philippines. See what is RollCall.
How do I create my gym?
Register at the app with your gym name, your name, an email, and a password, or sign up with Google. Your gym exists the moment you register, with you as the owner, and a setup checklist walks you through the rest. See create your gym.
Can I install RollCall as an app?
Yes. RollCall runs in the browser and also installs on Android, iPhone, and desktop for a real app icon and notifications. See install the app on your phone.
Do my members need their own phones?
No. Members can use RollCall on any phone or computer, and a parent can manage a child from their own login, so a young student needs no device of their own. See parent guides.
Plans and billing
Is there a free plan?
Yes. RollCall is free for up to 30 students and includes QR attendance tracking, belt and stripe tracking, and a public gym page. No card required. See plans and pricing.
What happens when my trial ends?
Your gym returns to the Free plan and nothing is deleted. Anything over the Free limits becomes read only with an upgrade prompt, not an error, and upgrading switches it all back on. See the 30 day Pro trial.
How do I pay for RollCall?
Start with a 30 day free trial of everything, no card needed. Then pay inside the app by GCash, Maya, GoTyme, bank transfer, or PayPal. PayPal renews automatically; the local rails renew with a reminder. Prices are VAT inclusive and every payment gets an official receipt. See pay by GCash, Maya, or bank.
Can I pay with GCash?
Yes. GCash, Maya, GoTyme, and bank transfer are first class both for the gym paying RollCall and for members paying the gym. Each renewal shows the amount, a QR, and a reference code to put in the transfer note. See pay by GCash, Maya, or bank.
Do you support multiple locations?
Yes. Run several locations or an entire affiliation under one roster, with attendance, dues, and reporting that roll up across gyms on the Pro plan. See run multiple locations.
Attendance and belts
Does RollCall track belts, stripes, and time in grade?
Yes. RollCall tracks belts and stripes, runs a time in grade clock, and flags who is eligible for promotion based on attendance and your own belt requirements. See track belts and promotions.
How does QR check in work?
Members show a personal QR or scan a class QR posted by the door, and staff can also mark a roster by hand. Each check in stamps the class and time and counts toward belt progress, and it works even when the gym wifi drops. See take attendance with QR.
What is time in grade?
Time in grade is how long a member has held their current belt, counted from their last promotion. RollCall runs the clock automatically and uses it, alongside attendance, to flag who is eligible for their next belt. See follow your belt progress.
Can RollCall handle class scheduling and bookings?
Yes. Publish a weekly class schedule, let members book their spot by QR, and cap each class so it never oversells. When a class is full, RollCall promotes the waitlist automatically as spots open. See schedule classes and take bookings.
Does RollCall have digital waivers?
Yes. Send digital waivers that members sign on their phone, with guardian sign off for minors, and track who has and has not signed before they step on the mat. See collect digital waivers.
Dues and payments
Can my members pay dues with GCash or Maya?
Yes. RollCall collects membership dues through GCash, Maya, GoTyme, bank transfer, and PayPal, with automatic matching, reminders, and overdue flagging. See collect dues.
My member paid but it still says pending, why?
A payment by GCash, Maya, GoTyme, or bank shows as pending until the gym confirms it, usually quickly. If it stays pending, the most common cause is a missing or wrong reference. See pay your dues and the payment section of troubleshooting.
What is an RC reference?
When your gym pays its RollCall subscription by GCash, Maya, GoTyme, or bank, RollCall gives it a code that starts with RC-. You put that code in the payment note so the payment matches your subscription. See pay by GCash, Maya, or bank.
Messaging and privacy
Can parents see their child's progress?
Yes. A guardian account links to a child and shows their belt progress, attendance, next class, and grading eligibility, all from the parent's own login. See follow your child's progress.
Are minors kept private?
Yes, always. Minors never get a public profile, and no child stats are ever indexed. A child's promotion card can still be made for a parent to share. See privacy and minors.
Can members message each other?
Yes. RollCall has direct and group chat with read receipts and presence, plus a one way broadcast from staff to the whole gym. See chat and read your inbox.
Is my gym's data private from other gyms?
Yes. Each gym's data is completely isolated; one gym can never see another gym's roster, dues, or messages. See privacy and minors.
